CTN Webinar: Where is MAT Available in the U.S. and Is It Available Where Needed? A Geographic Review. Opiate Overdose Deaths and Waivered Buprenorphine Providers: 2015.

Presented on July 30, 2018.

Watch the webinar recording.

This webinar looked at national distribution of waivered buprenorphine providers, methadone clinics, ratio of waivered providers to overdose deaths, and higher overdose-risk states and counties. A preponderance of rural counties have no provider capacity, but provider capacity doesn't seem to have a direct correlation to overdoses in a given area. For example, Massachusetts has a high provider capacity, but also a high rate of overdoses. The webinar ends with a discussion of next steps to try to improve availability of medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder in the United States. (Webinar, Video, PDF, English, 2018)
