News from the Nodes

Western States Node

Northeast NodeThe Western States Node is pleased to announce that the National Association of State Alcohol and Drug Abuse Directors (NASADAD) has honored John W. McIlveen, PhD, a WSN investigator, with its 2020 President’s Award for his leadership of the State Opioid Treatment Authorities and his coordination of their responses to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic and the emergency changes in dosing practices in opioid treatment programs. His notice of award states, "You work tirelessly to navigate the complexities associated with the rules governing opioid treatment programs (OTPs) with one goal: to help people get better and regain their lives. You have been a critical voice in the fight to address the misconceptions connected to medication assisted treatment (MAT). When the COVID-19 crisis first began to impact the U.S., you recognized the need to engage in a coordinated dialogue to ensure service delivery despite the many challenges to the system. Through it all, you maintain your smile and positive attitude." Thank you John for the excellent work.
