The National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network: From 2000 to 2020 and beyond. [editorial]

This introduction to a special issue of Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment marking the 20th anniversary of the CTN and dedicated to Dr. Betty Tai, Director of the Center for the CTN, describes the origins of the network and reflects on twenty years of investigations.

Over the next five years, the CTN anticipates a focus on the opioid epidemic and potential tests of new treatments for the emerging epidemic of amphetamine type stimulants, especially methamphetamine.
