Contingency management: An evidence-based component of methamphetamine use disorder treatments.
This article briefly reviews the available evidence regarding the utility of contingency management in treating methamphetamine use disorders. It includes a section detailing the methods and results of protocols CTN-0006 and CTN-0007, two CTN protocols that studied the use of contingency management on patients diagnosed with stimulant use disorders (cocaine or methamphetamine). Results of this review suggest that contingency management can increase the likelihood of providing methamphetamine-free urine samples during treatment, and is a good candidate for inclusion in treatment strategies for methamphetamine addiction.
