Please join us in celebrating the retirement of Dr. Geetha Subramaniam after 17 years of exceptional service with the NIDA/CCTN!
Throughout her tenure, Dr. Subramaniam has been a nationally recognized leader in addiction medicine whose vision and dedication have advanced evidence-based prevention, treatment, and research for youth with substance use disorders. Her leadership helped validate and disseminate widely used substance use screening tools including: S2BI, BSTAD, and TAPS.
Dr. Subramaniam also played a key role in advancing innovative Clinical Trials Network studies integrating substance use disorder care into primary care and championed groundbreaking research focused on adolescents, including the ERA (CTN-0158) and VAPOR (CTN-0160) studies. In addition, her commitment to mentoring the next generation of addiction clinicians and researchers has had a lasting impact through the CTN Dissemination Initiative, the Mentored Facilitated Substance Use Disorder Training Awards, and her support of early-career investigators. Internally, she helped launch NECTAR (Network for Early-Life Child and Teenage Addiction Research) to strengthen collaboration across NIDA in advancing youth substance use research.
Beyond these many accomplishments, Geetha has been a valued mentor, trusted colleague, and inspiring leader. Her unwavering commitment to scientific excellence, collaboration, and improving public health has left an enduring mark on the Clinical Trials Network, NIDA, and the broader research community.
As Geetha begins this exciting new chapter, we extend our gratitude for her extraordinary service and wish her a retirement filled with good health, happiness, and new adventures.
