Prenatal Action for Taking Healthy Steps (PATHS) Toolkit: Spanish Materials Now Available!

The Prenatal Action for Taking Healthy Steps (PATHS) toolkit, developed out of protocol CTN-0080-A3 (led by the Ohio Valley Node), offers evidence-based educational resources about the use of medication to treat opioid use disorder (OUD) during and after pregnancy.
The collection of resources was already available in two formats: one for general English speakers and another version adapted to be culturally and linguistically appropriate for American Indians & Alaska Natives.
Now, added just last week, materials are now also available in Spanish!
Resources include:
- An introductory video featuring a mother in recovery from OUD
- Printable flyers answering three common questions about OUD and pregnancy in plain language:
- Can babies be born addicted?
- Will my baby experience withdrawal?
- Can I take buprenorphine or methadone (MOUD) while pregnant?
- A discussion guide to help you plan and initiate conversations with people with OUD and their families about stigma, ADA rights to medication, MOUD treatment during pregnancy, breastfeeding during MOUD treatment, and more
- A poster that helps pregnant people with OUD understand their right to treatment with medications for OUD
- A factsheet about treating OUD during pregnancy focusing on recovery, preparing for the baby’s arrival, and rights to treatment
- Engaging and educational social media graphics (for Facebook and Instagram), and short videos (“Reels”)
