HHS Request for Comment on Chronic Disease of Addiction (Deadline July 5)
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking comment in response to an RFI related to substance research, policy, and strategies to improve the prevention, treatment, and recovery of the chronic disease of addiction and mental illness and “how to promote the Great American Recovery Initiative.”
The initiative includes goals to:
- End support for harm reduction
- Strengthen agency collaboration
- Engage faith-based providers
- Develop non-opioid options for chronic pain
- Integrate health records
- Implement medications for opioid use disorder
