From prevention to treatment: Emerging approaches for adolescent nicotine vaping.
Although the prevalence of nicotine vaping among youth has declined in recent years, rates of daily vaping and unsuccessful quit attempts have increased, underscoring the need for evidence-based prevention and treatment approaches. This presentation will review current patterns of youth vaping, highlight preliminary findings from a universal neuroscience-informed prevention program, and cover emerging evidence for varenicline as a treatment option, including a planned multisite varenicline trial enrolling adolescents interested in reducing vaping. This talk will also discuss considerations for engaging youth in prevention, outreach, and research.
