The goal of the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) Clinical Trials Network/Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) webinar series is to help scholars and clinicians in the addiction field stay abreast of cutting edge science. In this webinar, Keith Humphreys, PhD (Stanford University) explored the landscape of mutual help groups and the diverse mutual help groups that are available to patients. The clinical and cost effectiveness of group and 12-step programs were reviewed, as well as the clinical and policy implications of mutual help groups for promoting recovery from addiction.
