The Northern New England Node joined the Clinical Trials Network in September 2002. Together, its CTPs had over 48,000 admissions in 2001 for substance use disorders. The CTPs provided services to an ethnically diverse patient population with a variety of substance use disorders in rural, suburban, and urban locales. Special populations include individuals with comorbid psychiatric and medical illnesses, HIV-infected individuals, adolescents, pregnant women, and individuals involved with the criminal justice system.
