Southwest Clinical Trials Network (node logo)

The original Southwest Node joined the Clinical Trials Network in September 2002 and was led by Principal Investigator Michael Bogenschutz, MD, of the University of New Mexico. The node’s community treatment programs provided inpatient and outpatient, urban and rural psychotherapy and pharmacology. New Mexico is the first “minority majority” state, and its clinical populations include large proportions of Native American and Hispanic clients.

In 2019, Kimberly Page, PhD, MPH, MS of University of New Mexico became the PI for the Node. The Southwest CTN Node works to increase practice-based research by partnering with clinical sites and researchers across the southwest region including Arizona, Nevada, and Texas. The node’s priorities include rural and underserved populations with substance use, medications for addiction treatment, and community engagement.
